The CORS West Boulder facility ensures uninterrupted operations during disasters for essential National CORS activities. Collecting and processing CORS data, distributing to the public, and sharing workload with Silver Spring facility. Current capabilities include data archive, NGS database replication, data collection, processing from 300 sites, data distribution via FTP, archive backups, and more. Features monitoring tools for data collection status, data management, recovery, and quality control. Future plans include data replication, computational and web services, and automatic fail-over system.

The Parallel CORS Data Facility CORS WestBoulder, CO
Purpose • Provide uninterrupted operation of essential National CORS activities • Handle these activities during a disaster or temporary outage at the Silver Spring CORS facility OUT OF SERVICE Silver Spring, MD Boulder, CO
What must CORS West be able to handle? • Collect and Process CORS data • Distribute CORS data to the public • Share work load with primary CORS facility in Silver Spring
Current Capabilities in Boulder • CORS Data Archive (1994-present) • Replicated NGS Database • Data Collection and Processing of 300 sites • Data Distribution via Anonymous FTP (ftp://wwwest.ngs.noaa.gov) • Archive Backups of all CORS data (NGDC)
Data Collection • We Are Currently Collecting from 300 sites at the CORS West facility in Boulder, CO • FAA WAAS • USCG NDGPS (secondary sites) • Public Internet • Data Collection Scripts • Internet Data Collector
CORS Data Backup Archive (NGDC) • Long term data storage • 30 Second Decimated RINEX2 Format files • Raw data files for USCG and FAA sites • Backup data collected at both the Silver Spring and Boulder Facilities • Primary and Secondary USCG Site data
Data Management and Monitoring • Monitor data collection status at CORS West from CORS East, and vice versa • See the actual CORS data holdings as data come in • Manually recover data between facilities in the event of an outage
Data Management and Monitoring • Data Management tools in development will ensure the quality of the data being served to the public: • Find and correct problems in the CORS Data Archive • Allows for controlled updates of older data to the CORS Archive • Coordinate updates between CORS East and CORS West • Automatically apply changes to the CORS Archive Backup maintained by NGDC
In The Future… • CORS Data Replication • Computational Services - OPUS • Web Services – UFCORS • Automatic Fail-over system
