Erosion The main elements of erosion are: water, wind, gravity, and glaciers. Eroded material can slide downhill because of gravity and the natural elements. Sheet Erosion is when a small sheet of sediment erodes from the side of base rock.
Weathering Weathering is when eroded bits of rock are moved from the original rock. Chemical weathering is when chemicals and acids erode away the surface of a rock, and physical weathering is when natural elements erode the rock. The grand canyon was formed by weathering and is very beautiful.
Igneous Rocks Igneous rocks are formed when magma from the earth cools inside or outside the volcano.
Metamorphic Rocks Rocks that are formed from other rocks put under extreme heat and pressure under the earths surface.
Sedimentary Rocks Sedimentary rock is formed from sediments being cemented together.
Fossils Fossils are the remains or imprints of once living organism that are preserved in or an the surface of a rock
Geologic Time ScALE
Law of Superposition The Geologic Time scale is how you can measure the age of rocks by comparing them to the surrounding rocks
