  4. Terminology • Portfolio: A collection of one’s work • E-Portfolio or ePortfolio: A portfolio in any electronic or digital format • Webfolio: An online (web-based) format of ePortfolio. Etymology: From Italian Portafoglio (porta = to carry, foglio = sheet). Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  9. Create a faculty account Faculty ePortfolios • Signup at RCampus.com • Activate your website • Unique URL: http://loginname.1faculty.com • Go to your website and login. Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  11. Build Website Faculty ePortfolios Quick Overview • Select a skin • Build home page • Build header/footer • Build menus Ramesh Sabetiashraf

Build Your Home Page Faculty ePortfolios Use Internet Explorer for Windows for best results. • From home page • Select Create this page or Revise this page • Enter “Welcome to My Site” in content area • Highlight your entry and change text font and color* • Press Save * See Tutorial and Editor Help for more. Build Header and Footer Faculty ePortfolios • From side menu • Expand Admin Tools • Select Header/Footer • In the Header section, enter your name, change text size and color • Leave the footer as is for now • Press [Save] * Header and footer are applied to the entire site.   14. Modify Side Menu Faculty ePortfolios • From side menu • Expand Admin Tools • Select Side Menu • Click on About me • Click on Up arrow to move it up • Press [Save] • Top and Side menus are applied to the entire site. • Click on Side menu help to see more features. Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  16. Create A Class Faculty ePortfolios • Select Classroom from top menu • Select Classes from submenu • Select New Class • Enter class info • Enter 123456 for Access Code • Press [Save] You’ll be redirected to Course info page • Enter Course info • Press [Save] Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  17. My Classes Faculty ePortfolios Classes are automatically displayed on your ePortfolio: • Select My Home from top menu • Look at Current Classes and Courses taught pages Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  18. Invite students Faculty ePortfolios • Click on the class link. • Select How to join from side menu • Make a note of Class ID and Access Code • We’ll continue this part later… Ramesh Sabetiashraf

Student ePortfolio Websites Student ePortfolios • Similar in features to Faculty ePortfolios • Current version: Acts like a website • Coming Soon: Fall 2007 version • Multiple ePortfolios per student • ePortfolio submissions • Track coursework, tasks, goals, reflections, and assessments.   22. Create a Fictitious Student Student ePortfolios • Open a new browser window (keep the other one open) • Click on “become a member” and create a student account Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  24. Build Sidemenu Student ePortfolios We want to build this menu: • Purpose • Tasks • Goals • Project 1 • My work (artifacts) • My reflections My Info • About me • Contact me Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  25. Build Side Menu - Purpose Student ePortfolios • Change the label of “home” side menu to “purpose” • Select Admin Menu • Select Side Menu • Select “Home” from the box on the right • Change its label to “Purpose” Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  26. Build Side Menus - Tasks Student ePortfolios • Change the label of “Calendar” to “Tasks” • Similar to changing “home” to “purpose” • Click on up arrow to move this menu to the second position Ramesh Sabetiashraf

Build Side Menu - Goals Student ePortfolios • Add a custom page and change its label to “goals” • From the left box select any “custom” options • Click on Right Arrow to move it to the box on the right • Click on Up Arrow to move it to the 3rd position • Add another custom page and name it “project 1” Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  28. Build Side Menu – My work Student ePortfolios • Add another custom option and change it to “My Work” • Similar steps as the previous menu • Move the menu options below “Project 1” • Click on this button to make it into a sub-menu of “Project 1” Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  29. Building Side Menu – My Info Student ePortfolios • Add another custom option and change its label to “My Info” • Click on this button to make it into a menu header Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  30. Building Side Menu Student ePortfolios • Add other menu items • Remove unneeded menu item by clicking on left arrow • Press [Save] Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  31. Adding Artifacts Student ePortfolios • On the “My Work” page, student is required to add three files. • Click on “My Work” and select “Create this page” • Type an intro: “These are my documents:” • Type “document 1”, then highlight it and press Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  32. Adding Artificats (cont) Student ePortfolios • Upload a file from your PC: • Click on Browse • Select a file • Click on Send it to server • Press OK Ramesh Sabetiashraf

  37. Join the Class Faculty/Student Interactions In previous steps, faculty built a class. Steps for a student to join the class: • From top menu, select Classroom • From submenu, select classes • From side menu, select join class • Enter Class ID and Access Code from Part I Ramesh Sabetiashraf
