Situation now • Compared to othercountries, the Swiss agricultural press is still markedby an enormousdiversity: • General topic: • 2 newspapers in thegermanpart, 1 in thefrenchpart and 1 in theitalian part. • 3 periodicals in thegermanpart, 1 in thefrench part. 5 regional newspapers in thegermanpart; anymoreleft in thefrench part. • Special interests: morethan 30.

Theanswerdepends: • on the will and thefinancialpossibility of theowners to stay independent • on theevolution of thestructure of the Swiss agriculture • and on thedevelopment of the media in general. Theneedforinformation will notbelessthan 2013 – on thecontrary. These are good news für agriculturaljournalism – but no certaintyforthe press. As anywhere, the Swiss agricultural press has to masterthe digital challenge.
