Sustainability Impact Sheet for Procurement Natalie Evans Gloucestershire County Council
Why design a Sustainability Impact Sheet? Objectives: • To encourage devolved procurement staff to consider sustainability from the outset • To give a clearer idea of potential impacts to people and the environment associated with the procurement of various goods/ services • To provide a tool to help select appropriate pre-qualification (PQQ) and tender questions
Considerations The Sustainability Impact Sheet needs to be: • User friendly • Clear layout • Hyperlinks • Assessment criteria included in PQQ/ tender sheet • Relevant – with examples provided • A help rather than a hindrance! • Used as a tool • No disincentive to filling it in appropriately • Mandatory
What now? • Timing: Introduced in March, mandatory from 1st April 2011 • Senior buy-in: Approved by Strategic Purchasers • Comms: Intranet and online newsletter • Monitoring compliance: Through the gateway sign-off process and Pro-Contract ( our E-tendering system)
