PURPOSE: To educate and promote financial health for National Guard Members and their Spouses GOAL: To provide every member and their spouse the information needed to understand what services and tools are available to help them obtain and maintain financial health and preparedness FMAP PURPOSE, GOAL & PROGRAM
FOCUS AND TARGET(Maintaining Readiness) • Head Off Financial Disparity and Ruin for National Guard Members and Spouses • Mortgage Foreclosures (Public versus Military) • Mortgage Refinancing • Bankruptcy • Loss of Income • Debt Management (prevention/restructuring) • Institute NGB Continuum – Financial Management Awareness Program (FMAP) – Start to change the culture • Recruit to Retirement: Individual, Family and Corporate • Return on investment will be determined through analysis of OSD data identifying program use by NG members

Deployed Troops: Opportunity to increase financial wealth and stability: Salary, Savings on Health Care Cost, Post Montgomery GI Bill, Non-Regular Retirement (Age55), etc. (Government Accounting Office Report GAO-09-688R Reservists’ Income Loss) FMAP will focus on a core continuum of life events (1st car buy, 1st mortgage, etc.) through education and training by using the various financial services offered Financial services (calculators, road shows at NG locations , free counseling, individual website computer based training, etc) are offered through military websites on Military Home Front (MHF), Military One Source (MOS) and Army One Source (AOS) which are accessible to all members Publish CNGB All States letter outlining program specifics to TAGS, Commanders, Supervisors and Family Members AGR/T5/DSG Troops: Established solid fiscal discipline DELIVERABLE
YELLOW RIBBON EVENT - FINANCIAL • What's the Focus to Members and Spouses…….No Cost • Set up bill paying plan • Register for online access to your accounts • Obtain a PIN and passwords as needed • Contact a Financial Advisor to discuss your situation prior to departure • Review your financial needs. Ensure that any loans that may be needed are prearranged
YELLOW RIBBON EVENT – FINANCIAL CONT. • Review life insurance coverage for you and your family • Set up a folder for receipts, financial and legal documents • Review your financial arrangements. Share all financial accounts, access/passwords with your spouse • Record financial account numbers and take a copy of that record with you when you deploy
