  1. Introduction: I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed We must make sure we understand what a verse is saying. Hence, let us consider some different translations of I Corinthians 16: 13.

  2. I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, act like men, be strong” (KJV). “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (NASV). “Be keeping a watchful eye ever open. Be standing fast in the faith. Be showing yourselves to be men. Be mighty in strength” (Wuest’s Expanded Translation).

  3. I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed “Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith [that is, your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it. Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength!” (The Amplified New Testament.)

  4. I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed “13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. (The New International Version)

  5. GOD SPOKE Strong winds are coming against the church to shake the foundation of faith. Be on alert because some will fall from the grace following ideas of men, the trends of the world, and their own desires. The faith of the people of God will be tested. Stay strong in the foundation.

  6. GOD SPOKE 1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. (1 Tim. 4:1-2)

  7. Analysis: I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Let us understand I Corinthians 16: 13. We will use the New American Standard Translation for our examination of Paul’s teaching, considering each of the four parts of the verse.

  8. "Be on the alert..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Acts 20: 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

  9. "Be on the alert..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Col. 4: 2- Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Mark 13: 33- Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

  10. "Be on the alert..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed I Thes. 5: 6- So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. , Rev. 16: 15- “Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”

  11. "Stand firm..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed 2 Tim. 4: 16- Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

  12. "Stand firm..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Rom. 14: 4- Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

  13. "Stand firm in the faith..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Acts 14: 22- “strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

  14. "Stand firm in the faith..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Jude 3- Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

  15. "Stand firm in the faith..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Phili. 3: 13-14- 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

  16. "Act like men..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed To “act like men” involves a certain amount of maturity, responsibility, and resolve. It means to be courageous and committed no matter what.

  17. "Act like men..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Gal. 2: 5: We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

  18. "Act like men..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Tit. 1: 9-13- 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

  19. "Act like men..." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed 10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

  20. "Be strong...." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed I John 2: 14- I write to you, dear children,    because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men,    because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

  21. "Be strong...." I Corinthians 16: 13 Analyzed Heb. 5: 12, 14- In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

  22. ABOVE ALL ELSE Above all else, guardyourheart, for everything you do flows from it. Prov. 4:23
