Federation for FIRE • Fed4FIRE framework, specifications and standards • Promotion worldwide (USA, JPN, KOR, BRA) • ECIAO project EU-China • Identify FI topics to address within EU-China collaboration • Undertake interoperability initiatives • Contribute to Fed4FIRE specifications • Contribute to standardisation

FIRE's role in SDN/NFV, Autonomic FI • FIRE was built on "Situated and Autonomic Communications" initiative and other FET projects in 2007 • ANA Project (FP6) – ECODE Project (FP7) • OFELIA – the European OpenFlow experimental facility • OFERTIE, ALIEN, CITYFLOW – experiments on top • FELIX (JPN), SMARTFIRE (KOR), FIBRE (BRA) • ECIAO (CHN) • SDN/NFV, OpenFlow as enablers to AFI

Standardisation on Autonomic FI • "Future network infrastructure should incorporate autonomic features … in order to control operational costs" • Research efforts have reached a maturity • Common frameworks for implementation and research • Set of requirements for Autonomic and Self-Managing Future Internet by ETSI ISG AFI • Only with well-defined Standardized Specifications can the Future Internet emerge!
