This question was answered by Advisory members and the community.

These questions were answered by K-12 partners, Higher Education partners, legislators, local government, judges, and community leaders. After individual consideration, we will look at the commonalities among all four questions.
What can CNM do to reinforce your advocacy in Higher Education? Legislators/Local Government/Judges/Community leaders

Commonalities among ALL education partners • Marketing/ Increased Information: • The public needs an increased awareness of CNM and the programs offered • Students and the community need to understand the value of a degree • The community needs to be shown our data, especially the return on investment • K-12 students need to have information on higher education continually and constantly re-enforced to them • Understand Student Needs: • Need to figure out how to get students to stay in school • Advisors are out of touch with employers • Need to start speaking to students earlier about the expectations of higher education • Pathways: • Clear pathway between high school to college, between CNM and 4 year institutions, between degree and job • Schedule: • More classes offered at more times and at remote campuses, including Dual Credit and Career Technical options • Support: • More general student support services, mentoring of at risk students • Support of K-12 partners • More CNM Connect offerings
Barriers to Student Success In this section we are going to examine the responses to the question, “what are the barriers to students staying and completing their goals?” We will look at responses to the question from the perspective of employees and students. Finally, we will take a look at how they are similar and different.
What do you believe are the barriers for students in staying and completing their goals? Employees
What do you perceive as the barriers to staying in school, meeting your goals , and succeeding? Students
Employees vs. Students • Both cite financial reason as the largest barrier • That is where the commonalities stop • Students begin to feel that that issues surrounding school and their access to education as big barriers • Employees feel that the larger barriers are have to do with factors outside of higher education and preparation for college
Student Experience In this section we will examine four questions posed to the students. All questions pertain to the education they receive at CNM and ways to improve upon it. No commonalities will be discussed in this section.
Outside of the classroom what is one thing at CNM that has impacted you the most positively?
Great Colleges to Work For The final section will examine what CNM employees have to say about working at CNM and what would make CNM a best place to work.
