  3. PWG – Planning Workgroup Representatives from 7 partners: • Parnu Town Government • Parnu County Government • Kuressaare Town Government • Saaremaa County Government • Talsi District Council • Tukums District Council • Limbazi District Council

  4. PWG – Planning Workgroup Main focus: • elaboration of common principles for sustainable development of coastal areas around the Gulf of Riga • knowledge sharing among project partners concerning environment management and protection and spatial planning of coastal areas

  5. PWG meetings • Meeting 1 – November 2006 - overview of spatial planning and nature protection systems both countries - exchange of experience between the WG members - agree on the work plan for PWG • Meeting 2 – January 2007 - SWOT analyze on environment and planning - finalization of the Situation Analysis • Meeting 3 – February 2007 - agree on common principles

  6. PWG – Planning Workgroup Overall results: • more broad understanding about environment protection and spatial planning of coastal areas among planning specialist of the region; • preconditions for further sustainable development of coastal areas of Gulf of Riga as whole will be created; • public discussion about environmental issues on coastal areas more active

  7. PWG – Planning Workgroup Outputs: • Situation Analysis • Common principles for environment protection and spatial planning of coastal areas • Information is published in booklets and on project website to introduce the principles to the wider public
