  2. Drake’s Life • He was born in Tavistock, Devon, England. • He lived from 1544-1596. • He had 2 wives because the first one died 12 years after they were married. • He had no children. When he died all of his property went to his nephew also named Francis. • He died of dysentery and was buried at sea wearing his full armor in a lead coffin.

  3. Drake vs Spaniards He was made captain of his first ship when he was 24. When he went off on his journey the Spaniards sunk most of his ship but luckily he escaped. After that he wanted to get revenge. In three years he was made the most hated person here. Because he attacked them.

  4. Drake’s Trip Around the World Drake led the second expedition to sail around the world from 1577-1580. His sponsor was Elizabeth I. They left to sail on December 13, 1577, with six ships. They sailed to Brazil, and sailed through the perilous Strait of Magellan. At Tierra del Fuego, natives gave Drake and his crew food and water. Then they pirated ships for food and treasure. Then they crossed the Pacific Ocean and sailed by Indonesia through the Indian Ocean, past the Cape of Good Hope, back to Plymouth, England 1580.
