Success criteria Level 3 The candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the creative use of most of the following technical skills: use IT appropriately for the task set; show understanding of conventions of layout and page design; show awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size; accurate use of language and register; appropriately integrating illustration and text; framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate; using a variety of shot distances as appropriate; shooting material appropriate to the task set; selecting mise-en-scène including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting; manipulating photographs as appropriate to the context for presentation, including within text, within particular IT programmes, cropping and resizing. Where a candidate has worked in a group, a proficient contribution to construction is evident.
Level 4 The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills: • using IT appropriately for the task set; • showing understanding of conventions of layout and page design; • showing awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size; • accurate use of language and register; • appropriately integrating illustration and text; • framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate; • using a variety of shot distances as appropriate; • shooting material appropriate to the task set; • selecting mise-en-scène including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting; • manipulating photographs as appropriate to the context for presentation, including within text, within particular IT programmes, cropping and resizing. • Where a candidate has worked in a group, an excellent contribution to construction is evident.

USE YOUR DESIGN Canvas sizes. • DVD outline is on my weebly. • Canvas size use the same as your magazine cover from last year.
Photography 1 lesson Take your images needed for your poster. Remember to take too many images. My advice is Google photography techniques and filet out the relevant information. Getting your elements onto your canvas. 1lesson Use this lesson to layout your elements. Maybe try one or two different layouts until you are Happy. Save a few copies as you progress. When you are happy save your file as a PNG(This keeps layers separate.)
Editing the poster/DVD. 2 lessons What effects can you use? • Brightness • Blur • Drop shadow • Use of layers to focus upon a particular point. • Google editing techniques.
Final product and optimisation. 1 lesson What is optimisation? What are your options? PNG JPEG These are the main two. JPEG is a smaller image which compresses like colours. As your product is for print it will probably be worth keeping it as a PNG despite the huge file size.
