1. Team Presentation“They Have Had an Impact” Jonatan Ryzhak Marina Elorza Iliann Reyna

2. Introduction This project represents three of the greatest artists that have had an impact trough the years. They all share some characteristics in their personalities and are known for being far ahead of their time.

3. Pablo Picasso Jonatan Ryzhak

4. Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain, the son of an art and drawing teacher.

5. In 1896 Pablo’s first large “academic’ oil painting, “The First Communion”, appeared in an exhibition in Barcelona. His second large oil painting, “Science and Charity” (1897) received honorable mention in the national exhibition of fine art in Madrid and was awarded a gold medal in a competition at Málaga. Pablo’s uncle sent him money for further studying in Madrid, and the youth passed entrance examination for advanced courses at the Royal Academy of San Fernando in Madrid.

6. In October 1900 Picasso and Casagemas left for Paris, the most significant artistic center at the time, and opened a studio at the Montmartre.

7. In February 1901 Picasso’s friend Casagemas committed suicide: he shot himself in a Parisian café because a girl he loved had refused him. His death was a shock, Picasso returned to it again and again: Death of Casagemas, multicolored, and the same in blue, “Evocation – The Burial of Casagemas”. 

8. World War I (1914-18) changed the life, the mood, the state of mind, and, of course, the art. His French fellow artists, Braque and Derain, were called up into the army at the beginning of the war. Picaso’s pictures became somber, more often realistic features appear. Pierrot.

9. In 1918 Olga and Picasso married. Contacts with high society through the ballet and the marriage brought changes in his lifestyle. On April 8, 1973 he died, at last. Picasso was buried in the grounds of his Chateau Vauvenargues.

10. Vincent Van Gogh Marina Elorza

11. Biographical information… • Vincent Van Gogh was born in 1853 in Groot - Zundert, Holland. • In 1881 he began to study art. He was the greatest artists of all time (draw and paint). He drew on anything he could find.

12. He went in and out mental hospitals for many months. Finally on July 27, 1890 he shot himself. He had mental problems and strange moody. • In 1888, French artist Paul Gaugin went to live with Van Gogh and one night they had a terrible argument. Van Gogh chased Gaugin down a street with a razor. Later he vas very sorry. He went home and cut off a piece of his left ear.

13. More… • He was only 37 years old. • Today a painting by Vincent Van Gogh sells for more than $80 million but when he was alive most people ignored him or laughed at him.

14. Why people admire him… • First, he couldn't sell his work, so he didn’t have much money. He often did not have food to eat because he used his money to buy paints. He also gave clothes and food to other poor people. Vincent to help others.

16. Leonardo Da Vinci Iliann Reyna

17. Leonardo da Vinci His full name was Leonardo Da Vinci. He was born in April, 1452. Leonardo Da Vinci was born in the town of Vinci, near Florence, Italy.

18. Occupations He studied painting, sculpture, music, mathematics and science. By the age of 20 he was a master painter. He was also worked as an architect and engineer.

19. Main accomplishments He drew a flying machine 400 years before the airplane was invented He designed an air conditioner, and alarm clock, a reading lamp, a submarine, a bridge, an many other things. In all, da Vinci designed more than 1,000 inventions. Unfortunately, he did not have time to develop many of his ideas. He designed buildings and canals and he figured out how to change the direction of rivers. At one point, he was a military adviser to the Duke of Milan.

20. Important/interesting biographical information He lived with his father, he had four step mothers, eleven stepsisters and brothers. He never got married but he adopted a son and he was a very good father. At the age of 15, Leonardo went to work with a famous artist. He was one of the first people to dissect human body. Da Vinci wrote down all his ideas and observations in notebooks. He also filled the notebooks with more than 5,000 drawings of plants, animals, and human body.

21. Personality He was quite strange. He was very mysterious, private man Most people liked and admired da Vinci, He was strong and handsome man. He was generous to his friends, both rich and poor. People invited to parties because he was really entertaining. He was also a great musician. He sang very well and played an instrument that he invented. He was extremely clean when many people were not. He was also vegetarian

22. Later in life As da Vinci grew older, he stayed alone more and more. Although people admired him, many people didn’t understand him because his ideas were far ahead of his time. Da Vinci spent the last years of his life working for King Francis I of France. Da Vinci died peacefully on May 2, 1519, at the age of 67.

23. Conclusion We did the presentation about Picasso, Van Gogh and da Vinci because we believe they made a difference in life, with their personalities, inventions, paintings, etc. They were all different from the rest of the society and that’s why they are remembered.
