Enthusiasm & Learning Chart • The Enthusiasm and Learning chart is a simple and effective tool for getting a quick gauge of your student’s perceptions of their learning and their interest in the subject matter or the strategies used to teach the subject matter. • Used frequently, it can provide valuable insight for the teacher to: • a) Track student enthusiasm and learning over time. • b) Engage students in improvement discussions regarding units and class learnings. • Used frequently, it can provide students the opportunity to: • Begin to own their own learning and their interest in it. Over time, many students will begin to see the correlation between their enthusiasm and the learning they acquire. • See that their teacher is interested in continuous improvement around their learning and is working with them to find ways to keep them motivated and interested. • This chart can be maintained on chart paper, 8 ½ X 11 sheets or via the computer. You may use these templates to design your own categories and names, print them off and use them in your classroom, or as an organizer to quickly track enthusiasm and learning over time. (You would then have a slide show at the end of the year showing the trends and patterns of student learning and enthusiasm.
