Second Grade News Mrs. Michalski Mrs. Casserly Mrs. MacDonald DEC Connections Corner Important Dates 12/7 – Pancakes with Santa 8-10 AM in the barn 12/12 – 2nd/3rd Grade Holiday Performance “Elfis and the Sleigh Riders” Showtime: 12:30 Location: SPU Barn 12/19 – Last Day of School 12/20-1/5 – Winter Break 1/6 = Back To School Help support the SPU PTA by joining Santa for some pancakes and holiday shopping this Saturday 12/7 from 8-10 in the barn! Please send in any Box Tops you have at home. Every box top helps make a difference! What We’re Planning Math We will continue with chapter 7 “Money” for the remainder of December. In addition to dollars & cents, we will review concepts such as 2-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, place value and fact families. We will continue to practice skip counting by 5’s, 10’s, 2’s and 3’s as we gear up for multiplication in January. Language Arts We will read “Big, Bushy Mustache” in our Anthologies and focus on making predictions when reading. We will practice “ou” and “ow” word spellings and word endings –es and –ies. The kids will also write rough and final draft “Thank You” letters to Mr. Roynon for the fantastic tour of his museum last month. READING LOGS – New Reading Log Format begins this Friday! Students should continue to read for 20 minutes/night. Please check your child’s written responses for correct punctuation and spelling!
