Fluency recordings In applications menu • Open Garage Band On desktop
Choose to create a new podcast episode • Type in your title and click create. Work on the desktop to begin. • Before recording go to “control” and make sure the metronome is unchecked.
5. Make sure that the voice track recording light is red. Select Male or Female • This light should be red
Recording (Save your work often) • 1. To begin recording click the record button. • 2. The microphone is now active. Speak clearly and firmly (without yelling) into the microphone. You can see how loud you are being by looking at the measure here. • The further to the right the bar goes the louder you are. Quiet Loud
Recording • After recording 30 seconds press the space bar to stop recording and listen to what you have. Do you need to be louder, softer? Is there a background noise you need to move away from? • You will record your poem “cold” - meaning without pre-reading it. • Practice reading it and then do a practiced recording right after your “cold” recording.
Recording cont. • When you are finished, you should have two recordings of the same poem on one track. • Go to “Share” on the menu slide and select “Send Song to iTunes” • This will take a few minutes
Rubric • Use the rubric to give yourself a grade on your second recording. • On the back write a thorough evaluation of • your experience Garage Band • how your recording changed • what you did well • and what you should work Work hard and be thorough and you get 100%.
