Lord, Deliver Us From Evil Weekend of Prayer for Victims of Sex Trafficking
Sexual trafficking is slavery; people being bought and sold for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Millions of people worldwide are sexually trafficked each year. In Canada, women and children are trafficked internationally as well as between towns, reserves and cities
Sexual trafficking victims are in a place of darkness anddespair
Veils of secrecy, deception and shame often wrap around victims.
Sexual trafficking is never a choice. There is always force or coercion or deception. Victims are often isolated, threatened, drugged, and tortured. They face violence and hopelessness.
Pray…for trafficked persons • Safety • Miracles • Rescue and freedom • Restoration, hope and peace
People most at risk of sex trafficking are women and children affected by poverty, sexual abuse or lack of healthy social supports. The most vulnerable people in our society are being preyed upon.
Pray…for people vulnerable to trafficking • Safety and protection • Wisdom and hope to see alternatives • Supportive families and churches
The majority of sexual trafficking victims are trafficked by someone they know and trust - trust - such as a relative or a boy friend. Imagine the grief and betrayal.
Human trafficking is run by international organized crime groups, but most traffickers and johns are “ordinary” men who think their actions are justified.
We need men of honour who: • Embrace equality • Do not pay for sex • Avoid pornography (which portrays women as objects) • Build and maintain healthy relationships
Pray…for traffickers, johns (consumers) and all those involved in the sex industry • Repentance and change • Healthy relationships/marriages • Justice and redemption
500 Aboriginal Canadian women and girls have gone missing in the last 20 years. .
Aboriginal girls are at grave risk of sexual trafficking, and need protection and prayer.
Aboriginal youth are only 3-5% of the Canadian population, and yet in some cities they are 90% of the visible sex trade.
The average age of entry into the sex trade for Aboriginal girls in our country is 12 or 13.
Pray…for Aboriginal communities • Safety and protection for everyone • An end to all forms of abuse • Supportive families and churches
The Salvation Army is committed to ending sexual trafficking and ensuring that the human rights of trafficked persons are respected.
Pray for…people fighting sexual trafficking • Faithfulness in prayer • Wisdom and understanding • Good legislation and support from government • Compassion and patience
Sexual trafficking happens to ordinary people. Victims are mothers, sisters, daughters...
All human beings are created with dignity in the image of God. They should not be for sale.
Sexual trafficking victims need God’s protection and intervention. They need us to pray and to pray and to pray.
“But this is a people plundered and looted, all of them trapped in pits or hidden away in prisons. They have become plunder, with no one to rescue them…” (Isaiah 42:22a) “Say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!;” (Isaiah 49:9a)
Children should not be trafficked or exploited for sex. O God, deliver them from evil!
God, please fulfill your promises of good news for the poor, comfort for the brokenhearted, release for the captives and freedom for the prisoners.
Lord, please protect women and children all around the world. Deliver them from evil.
