Studentselection STUDENT IS THE KEY PERSON • It is easy to agree that student election is a key point. • The basic elements for the right expectations are: -- Student has to understand the purpose of Rotary YE -- Student has to accept the rules of Rotary YE -- Student has to have an open mind -- Student has to have some social skills and flexibility -- Student has to have a certain independency and maturity -- She /he has to have good learning ability -- Applicant has to have her / his own will to attend RYE program • How to find out the right abilities and promote the right expectations?

  5. Student training • With training we can guide the student to meet the proper expectations. • Outbound training • Inbound orientation How can we arrange a good and effective training and orientation? What are the most essential elements of proper expectations?

  6. Club attitudeWhat is expected from the club • The student is the responsibility of the whole club not only YEO’s and Counselor’s. What does this mean? • -- Financing the program • -- Hosting the student for special events and occasions • Remember that we have the privilege to serve international understanding through YE and OUR student • Information, YE requirements, Student participation • Right persons, • Good training PETS, YEO training • How to select the YE personnel? • How to arrange the Club YE information?

Biological parentsconcerns • Get the parents to understand the meaning of separation, (parents – child / independent young person) • Emphasize the parents trust to the student and Rotary • Add the parent’s knowledge (YE goals, basics, rules) • How to find the correct attitude and how to prepare them for the coming exchange year?

  8. Host familyexpectations The most important persons to the student and the program • Do they know what they are going to undertake when deciding to host an exchange student. • -- information and training • -- support • How to find out the right attitude? • How to train the host families and promote right expectations? • What could the support means be?
