The Feudal system The Normansintroduced the hierarchicalfeudal system intoBritain, whichwas a pyramidal system and consistedofthreeestates: • The nobility (warriors and merchants) • The clergy (whoused the Roman law and expandedtheirlands) • The commoners (peasantry) • The kingdistributedterritoriestohisbarons and the barons in exchangehadto help the king in war.
