Electric Network Impact Measurement and Monitoring in Lyon Confluence Area

This project involves planning and implementing measurements to assess the impact of photovoltaic systems on the electrical distribution network in Lyon. Activities include setting up measurement platforms at INSA Lyon, evaluating electricity quality, conducting measurement series in Lyon-Confluence Area, and monitoring energy consumption. The project focuses on detailed monitoring, multiscale monitoring, and global monitoring to gather data on electricity usage, thermal comfort, and system performance. The goal is to develop a comprehensive monitoring strategy and analyze progress for future enhancements. Contact: Christophe.menezo@insa-lyon.fr

  2. WP 2.1 Electrical Network • Planned Activities: - Platform of measurements of the impact of the PV on the electrical distribution networks (at INSA of Lyon) - Measurements of the impact of PV systems installed in Lyon-Confluence Area on the distribution network

  3. WP 2.1 Electrical Network • Measurement Platform at INSA Electricity quality evaluation produced by standard EN 50-160 inverter • Site : Electrical Engineering Dpt • Definition of platform objectives and design • Supplier (Tenesol) Done

  4. WP 2.1 Electrical Network • Measurement series led on Lyon-Confluence Network • Project Submission to the National Research Agency (ANR) • Agreement between EDF R&D, INES RDI, Transénergie and INPGrenoble • Contact with INSA School of Electrical Engineering Master student subject Done

  5. WP 2.1 Electrical Network • Measurement Platform at INSA Electricity quality evaluation produced by standard EN 50-160 inverter • Definition of the measurements protocol • Installation of the platform : 2 kWc • Installation of Practical Courses for Engineering Students of INSA • j Done Planed M24-M30

  6. WP 2.1 Electrical Network • Measurement series led on Lyon-Confluence Network • Constructive data-gathering of the distribution network on the Lyon-Confluence area • Measurement Protocol definition with EDF R&D and INSA • Waiting for construction of the buildings and PhotoVoltaic systems

  7. WP 2.2 Experience Feedback - Monitoring • Planned Activities: Multiscale Monitoring • Global Monitoring • Detailed Monitoring • Localised Monitoring ENERTECH

  8. WP 2.2 Experience Feedback - Monitoring • Global Monitoring (promoters and dealers) - Counting and sub-counting heating room and sub-station and Solar Domestic Hot Water - Counting and under counting electricity in building • Detailed Monitoring (Enertech) -By housing - Followed Consumption: Cooking, lighting, washing machine - Followed thermal evolution • Localised Monitoring (INSA-CETHIL) -Some residences which have been numerically modeled ! Inhabitants !

  9. WP 2.2 Experience Feedback - Monitoring Detailed Monitoring (Enertech) : expected results (such as in Restart Project) - Thermal Confort Human thermal gain Apartment Electricity Use Domestic Hot Water Domestic Hot Water distribution Common Electricity Use Cooking

  10. WP 2.2 Experience Feedback - Monitoring Tests of sensors accuracy (INSA-CETHIL) Wireless sensors MINIBAT

  11. WP 2.3 European Highlight • State of progress year 3: 6 first months • Monitoring strategy principles defined • but not fully planed at the moment (contributions of actors -Enertch-INSACETHIL-promotors-futur inhabitants, what as to be focused ventilation rate, energy performance of systems (envelop air tightness), apartment behavior (thermal comfort)) • Actually difficult to highlight Monitoring strategy Has to be fixed at a very short term

  12. WP 2.3 European Highlight • Analysis of progress • Strong points : Zaragosa and Lyon not in phase • Experiences of Zaragosa not highlighted enough for Lyon • Networking opportunities should be much more used • (webcam exchange for regular exchange • for specific topics (focus), …)

  13. WP 2.3 European Highlight • Plans for the next 6 months (end of year 3) • - Lyon strategy complete definition and planning of phases • Comparison with Zaragossa • - Common identification of what has to be highlight ? • Identification of strong/weak points on each side? • Definition of a monitoring strategy referential? • Key events … • INSA-CETHIL organize IBPSA France - Nov. 2008
