  3. Selection of ASHA • Resident of the village(married/widow/divorced). • 25-40years. • One ASHA per 1000 of population.

  4. Role and Responsibilities of ASHA • Takes steps to create awareness. • Maternal care. • As an escort. • Mobilizes the community. • Association with the governing authority. • Provide primary medical care. • Depot holder for essential provisions. • Report-death, birth, unusual health problems….etc. • Promote construction of house hold toilets.

  5. Role and Integration with Anganwadi • Organizing health day. • AWWs and ANMs act as resource persons for training of ASHA. • AWWs –depot holder for drugs kits. • Updating of the lists of population groups in need. • Mobilizing pregnant, lactating women and infants for nutrition supplement.

  6. Role and Integration with ANM • Weekly or fortnightly meetings with ASHA. • Act as resource persons. • Outreach sessions. • Eligible couple register. • Family planning. • Antenatal care. • Use of oral pills. • Training of ASHAs in medical care.

  7. Monitoring and Evaluation of ASHA’s Work • Process indicators. • Outcome Indicators. • Impact indicators.

  8. Process Indicators • No. of ASHAs selected • No. of ASHAs trained. • No. of ASHAs attending review meeting after one year.

  9. Outcome Indicators • Newborns and families. • Children with diarrhea who received ORS. • Institutional deliveries. • Deliveries with skilled assistance. • Completely immunized children in 12-23 months age group. • Unmet need for spacing contraception among BPL. • Fever cases who received chloroquine within the first week in a malaria endemic area.

  10. Impact Indicators. • IMR • Child malnutrition rates. • No. of cases of TB/leprosy as compared to previous year.
