Emergency Generation Permitting • Former General Permit for Distributed Generation expired December 31, 2003 • New General Permit for Distributed Generation issued January 12, 2004 expiring in 5 fives • CT DEP’s current plan is to withdraw that permit when Section 42 becomes effective • http://www.dep.state.ct.us/pao/download/airdown/dist_gen_gp.pdf
Applicability & Exemptions • DG may operate without obtaining a general permit for such generator issued pursuant to section 22a-174(l) of the CT General Statutes or a permit issued pursuant to section 22a-174-3a of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies if:
Generator is an emission unit with potential emissions of 15 tons or more per year of an individual air pollutant; • Generator is not a new major stationary source; • The generator is not a newly constructed or reconstructed major source of hazardous air pollutants subject to the requirements of section 22a-174-3a(m) of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies; • In any calendar year, the generator is operated no more than the number of hours determined from the following equation; and • Operator complies with all applicable provisions of this section.
