The Steinalp Glacier, Switzerland These pictures were taken in August 2006 – they may well be used in connection with the powerpoint “Classical Glacial Features – The Matterhorn Glaciers. The slides have been left without special labels but key words have been included. Teachers can develop this resource further. Points to note: Picture 7 – the lateral moraine is covering the glacier which cannot be seen beneath it – the insert shows how material accumulates at the base – 8 – the insert shows how meltwater streams rework glacial deposits, 9 – the recessional moraine holds back a small meltwater lake.
