Emergency Response Actions • When a hazardous chemical spill, leak or fire is noticed by anyone and deemed serious by the faculty in charge: • Evacuate the floor or building • Can be done by the fire alarm • Red phones are available • Call in the spill or event providing • Your name • Specific location of the spill • Name of the substance spilled • Quantity spilled
Emergency Response Actions • Do not return to the scene once clear of the building. • Wait outdoors for UPD, Facilities, and OFD if appropriate. • OFD/UPD may contact county or state agencies for additional resources.
Containment • Containment resources are available as follows • Heating Plant (spill control booms) • Grounds/MOC (speedy dry) • Physical Science (mercury vacuum) • SDS sheets are available on line • Contractors • Clean Harbors 518-434-0149 • Environmental Products and Services 518-465-4000
Suppression • The following buildings are fully sprinklered: • Science I • Field House • Human Ecology • Fitzelle Hall • Higgins Hall • Tobey Hall • Wilber Hall • Golding Hall • Littell Hall • Cooperstown
Suppression • The following buildings are partially sprinklered: • Matteson/MacDuff/Blodgett/Curtis (main trash room) • Morris Hall/Hulbert Hall (trash rooms) • Hunt/Hulbert/Mills/Wilsbach (food service areas) • Fine Arts (Theater scene shop/art wing)
Suppression Systems • The following are equipped with suppression systems: • Food service areas in Wilsbach/Hunt/Morris/Mills (ansul) • Historic clothing area in Human Ecology • MOC (gas pumps) • Cooperstown (gas pump) • Physical Science (volatile store room) • Student kitchen in Human Ecology • Milne computer area in sub-basement
Evacuation Route • Primary evacuation route will be down Ravine Parkway to West St. • Secondary route is Bugbee Road to East St.
