Period: October 15th, 2010 – October 14th, 2013 • Partners: P1: Sapienza University of Rome, Italy P2: The University of Jordan , Jordan P3: Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan P4: Mutah University , Jordan P5: Northumbria University, Uk P6: Lund University, Sweden
Objectives: • The main objective of MANSUR project is to provide a high quality education for Jordanian students in the key aspects of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE), therefore enabling them to take responsible, creative, challenging and stimulating posts in industry or research in this exciting field.Specific objectives are: • To develop, establish and accredit a Master course on renewable energy and environmental sustainability in three Jordanian Universities located in different areas of the national territory. • To train professionals coming from all main specializations relevant to energy field (engineering, architecture, economics, law). • To enhance didactic and contents of training through the contributions of EU Universities and centres.
To Improve the quality of education and equal accessibility to renewable energy training. • To update training methodologies and approach also through open distance learning and information technologies. • To establish a high quality network among Jordanian Universities and EU Universities and centres with respect to renewable energy research and training. • To improve the mobility of students through the accreditation of the Master on a ECTS basis. • To improve the employability of professionals in the labor market of renewable energy at the national and at the international level.
Activities: • A National and International Network (TAQA network) had been established, it contains companies, public administrations and association working on the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency REEE • Jordanian Labor Market Needs Study: an analytical study for the Jordanian labor market in REEE had been performed by our EU partners. They prepare a questionnaire and distributed it among different bodies who are working on the field of renewable energy. The analysis of the questionnaire showed that there is an increasing demand for professionals in REEE as the market of renewable energy is expanding according to the Jordanian national energy strategy.
Also the analysis of the labor market helped us to decide the courses that will be taught in the master program. • Implementation of the Master Program: a three accredited master programs were established in three Jordanian universities • Master Program in Renewable Energy at UJ; 18 students enrolled in this program. • Master Program in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development at JUST; 6 students enrolled in this program • Master Program in Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy at Mutah; 2 students enrolled in this program.
Master Program in Renewable Energy at UJ • This master programs consist of 33 credit hours, Organized as Follows: • Obligatory courses (18 credit hours) • Scientific Research Methods • Renewable Energy Systems • Energy Efficiency • Energy Conversion • Energy Management • Economic aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency (REEE) • Elective Courses (6 credit hours) • Modeling, Simulation and Optimization • Market Communication, Strategies and Tools
CSP – Concentrated Solar Power • Wind Energy • Photovoltaic Energy • Solar Desalination • Environment and Sustainable Development • Bio-fuels • Low Carbon Buildings • Energy Regulations • Special Topics in Renewable Energy 3. Thesis (9 credit hours)
Master Program in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development at JUST • This master programs consist of 34 credit hours, Organized as Follows: • Obligatory courses (16 credit hours) • Research Methods • Renewable Energy Systems • Energy Efficiency and Heat Recovery • CSP- Concentrated Solar Power • Wind Energy • Seminar • Elective Courses (9 credit hours) • Modeling, Simulation and Optimization • Market Communication, Strategies and Tools
Photovoltaic Energy • Environment and Sustainable Development • Economic Aspects of REEE • Energy Conversion Technologies • Bio-fuels • Low Carbon Buildings • Energy Regulations • Solar Desalination • Technical and Economic Feasibility of RE • Energy Management • Special Topics in Renewable Energy Technology 3. Thesis (9 credit hours)
Master Program in Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy at Mutah • This master programs consist of 33 credit hours, Organized as Follows: • Obligatory courses (15 credit hours) • Scientific Research Methods • Renewable Energy Systems • Energy Efficiency • Environment and Sustainable Development • Technical Feasibility and Economical potential of RE • Elective Courses (9 credit hours) • Modeling, Simulation and Optimization • Economic aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency (REEE)
Market Communication, Strategies and Tools • CSP – Concentrated Solar Power • Wind Energy • Photovoltaic Energy • Solar Desalination • Low Carbon Buildings • Bio- Fuels • Energy Regulations 3. Thesis (9 credit hours)
RoleofEUpartnersin • Jordan labor Market Needs Analysis; they prepared a questionnaire regarding the REEE and analyzed this questionnaire to determine the needs of the market and also to determine the courses of MANSUR. • Methodology Manual; they elaborated a methodology manual that identified the most efficient collaboration among all universities, the technological platform to incentive the communication, the method of elaboration of contents and training of the master program, strategies of updating for trainers and trainees, tools for future sustainability of the master programs. • Preparing Didactic Materials; they integrated the courses materials in to Jordanian didactic materials in order to elaborate a unique master program.
Training in General and Specializing Modules; they are sharing the training in MANSUR courses by giving lectures for the students enrolled in MANSUR either by visiting Jordanian partners’ universities or via distance learning tools. • Internships; European bodies engaged in supporting and sponsoring the Master, will host the best students for a comparative internship. The internship will focus on direct and concrete involvement in real work activities.
