  2. Biomedical Engineering Career Description • A job in biomedical engineering combines biology, medicine, and engineering. They use advanced knowledge of engineering and science to solve medical and health related issues, such as diseases. Biomedical engineers build MRI’s, and tiny machines that are often used in surgery. BME’s can also determine if an artificial organ is safe to use. That is why biomedical engineers are so important to the realm of medical sciences.

  3. Potential Biomedical Engineering Colleges • 1 John Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland) • 2 Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, Georgia) • 3 Duke University (Durham, North Carolina) • 4 University of California (La Jolla, California) • 5 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts)

  4. Average Biomedical Engineer Salary • The typical biomedical engineers salary is about $81,950. On the low end of the spectrum, some biomedical engineers earned $79,650. The elite biomedical engineers’ salaries top off at about $92,870 per year.

  5. Biomedical Engineer employment Predictions • There are 14,000 biomedical engineers employed nationwide. • Most of them are employed in medical equipment and supplies manufacturing. • The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects to see a 21%, or 3,000 increase for biomedical engineers through 2016.
