Laws on Immoral RelationsLeviticus 18 They were not to follow the practices of the Egyptians or Canaanites (vs. 3-5) NT verses on adultery & fornication: Romans 13:9, I Corinthians 6:9; Hebrews 13:4 and James 2:11 NT verses on immorality: Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3,5; Colossians 3:5 1 Thessalonians 4:3

  4. Laws on Immoral RelationsLeviticus 18 Immorality includes: Incest, consanguinity, adultery, homosexuality, & bestiality Death penalty for incest, adultery, homosexuality & bestiality Harlotry is prohibited: Leviticus 19:29; 1 Corinthians 6:15-20

  5. Laws on Immoral RelationsLeviticus 18 Immorality results in natural physical consequences (1 Corinthians 6:18) It brings God’s condemnation (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) It brings God’s chastisement (Hebrews 12:4-11)

  16. Blessings and Penalties Leviticus 26 Blessings of Obedience: Seasonal Rains, Bountiful Crops, Peace, No Wild Beasts, Victory in Battle, Abundance of Children, A confirmed covenant with God dwelling among them.

  17. Blessings and Penalties Leviticus 26 Curses of Disobedience: Terrors, Consumption & Fevers, Crops Eaten by Enemies, Ruled Enemies Land would not yield its produce or fruit

  18. Blessings and Penalties Leviticus 26 Curses of Disobedience: Plagues, Wild Beasts killing their children and animals. Invasion, siege & famine Severe famine / cannibalism, destroyed worship sites, cities, land left desolate

  19. Blessings and Penalties Leviticus 26 Hope: God would not forget them or His covenant Restoration if repentance & confession

  20. Conclusions God still requires His people to walk with Him in holiness There are still blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience 2 Timothy 3:12 Hebrews 12:4-11; 1 Corinthians 11:30

  21. Conclusions What is your relationship to God’s moral laws? Do they concern you? Are you familiar with them? Are you striving to walk in them? The church exists to help in each of these areas.
