Mobility strategy • CERN CAR SHARING LAUNCH: • END SEPTEMBER 2011! • OPENED to the entire CERN community with 3 specific conditions: • a CERN valid contract • a CERN email address • a CERN vehicle driving license (V) (EDH document); • 2. Conditions governing the use of CERN car sharing: Operational Circular no.4; • CARDS available • at GS car pool (B.130); • Easy BOOKING • via web application.
Mobility strategy • CERN BIKE SHARING since MAY 2011 • ONE STATION Building 33- 20 bikes • 365 bike sharing users! 20’674 hours of usage • 2’362 bookingssince May Average use: 8.75 h Future stations coming! • CERN bike station = a closed network; • Opened to Employees and Associated Members of Personnel ; • To be used inside and between CERN sites for professional use only; • Card available at the GS car pool (B. 130); • Free of charge; • Max. 8 hours for the time being; • Conditions governing the use of CERN bike sharing: Operational Circular no.4; • For more information: • http://www.velopass.ch/formulaire-cern • http://www.velopass.ch/fr/velopass-velos-en-libre-service-suisse/comment-ca-marche/comment-ca-marche
Mobility strategy New alternative to be considered: • Car pooling between individuals; • Already working with the Etat de Geneve and the HUG (See below); • Can define where you want to go, starting from where, when and how many times; • As a driver or a passenger; • Green Monkeys supplies the software; • Price is fixed per km 0.24CHF/km as a passenger, 0.16CHF if 2 passengers during a trip; • Green Monkeys commission per km = 0.04CHF • Personnel data remains confidential; • Electronic payment via an electronic “porte - monnaie” .
Shuttles • Persons transported since February 2010 • Groups transported • Since May 2011 Investment of 260kCHF/year (2 drivers and 2 rented shuttles).
Optimization of CERN shuttle routes - Proposals • Circuit1– MEYRIN SITE • Every 20 min from 8:00 to 18:00 • Building 33 integrated>>Circuit 5 cancelled • Circuit2– PREVESSIN SITE • Circuit 6 – TRAM/ PREVESSIN SITE • Every 40 min from 8:00 to 18:00 • Circuit 2 and 6 a departure to Prevessinevery 15-20 min • Improved bus services for restaurant peakperiods. IMPROVEDMOBILITY on Meyrin site and INCREASED FREQUENCY for those people arriving via the TRAM Saving 130kCHF/year without decreasing the level of service!
Optimization of CERN shuttle routes - Question • How to go to the Airport? • TRAM number L18 - Every 10 minutes from 5:00 to 00:00 Do we still need an extension of the Airport Shuttle on Sunday evenings between 4pm and midnight?
Mobility Survey Goals: mobility patterns inside and outside CERN, attitudes and perception towards various modes of transport. preferences in some hypothetical scenarios regarding mode choice and parking facility choice. 694 fully completed questionnaires! The results of this survey will be used to assess travel needs between Home and CERN, as well as within CERN. ANALYSIS REPORT in progress expected results during the course of October.
