Operations Training Subcommittee (OTS) • Training updates on OTS, WECC RC office, NERC, and HPWG • 2013 goals • Oct – Root Cause Analysis training • Nov – RT Contingency Analysis 101 training • Online – RC Synchrophasor 101 • RC IROL training during regional training sessions • Develop instructor certification course • 2014 – webinars for DTS simulation • Course material review & evaluate presentations • New HPWG leadership: Chair - Ron Fenex ; Vice Chair - John Patton
Report of the Operating Practices Subcommittee (OPS) • Name change to Operating Practices & Event Analysis Subcommittee (OPEA) • Performance Work Group (PWG) continues to analyze Reliability-Based Control (RBC) Field Trial data • Operations Issues Work Group (OIWG) will review Category 1 & 2 reports • Event analysis process & lessons learned
Unscheduled Flow Event Analysis Task Force (USFEATF) • Chair – Doug Reese, Tri-State G&T • Vice Chair – Nathan Hunt, NorthWestern • 1st meeting in July • Comment period for draft report in Aug & finalization in Sept
Critical Infrastructure and Information Management Subcommittee (CIIMS) • WON Security Guideline & WON Connection Agreement were combined
Variable Generation Operating Reserve Task Force (VGORTF) • Defined scope • Mission: To ascertain different methods of estimating OR needed for next day operating conditions related to VG • Analysis: Review the different methods used to determine the amount of OR needed to accommodate VG and how VG is treated by different BAs • Review of current methods for calculating the amount of Operating Reserve needed to mitigate VG in order to comply with BAL-001 • Look through data results to see what aspects of VG influence OR needs • Determine common characteristics for calculating the amount of OR
Technical Operations Subcommittee (TOS) • Telecommunication Work Group (TELWG) – Communications Systems Performance Guide for Protective Relaying Applications • Relay Work Group (RWG) – process work for PRC-003-WECC-CRT-1
