Critical Area Resource Plans • More detailed plans for Critical Water Planning Areas based on local watershed “water budgets” • Establishment of Critical Area Advisory Committee • Water availability evaluations • Water quality issues • Storm water and floodplain issues • Alternatives to assure adequate supply
Timeline for Act 220 • Registration by March 16, 2004 with reporting in 2005 • October 2003- Regional Committees begin to meet • Early 2004- Statewide committee begins meeting • 2004-2005 Regulations, policies, guidance • 2005- 2007 Regional plan components drafted • 2008 State Water Plan approval
Registration • Registration will take place January through March 2004 • Registration will be accomplished through paper forms and by an internet web system.
Reporting • Reporting will occur in 2004 for those already reporting under existing regulations. • Others will report voluntarily or after regs are developed.
Agriculture Outreach • We have outreached to farmers by attending several Agriculture shows
Farm Mailings • We have mailed over 40,000 letters to farmers through agriculture organizations
Industrial Mailings • We have mailed about 30,000 letters to industries and businesses • We have notified local chambers of commerce across the state
Regional Committees • First meeting of all committees held October 27 • Chairs selected • Statewide Committee nominees made • Bylaws adopted • Meeting schedules
