  3. About the Poems • All of them have some kind of meaning/theme relating society, and its problems • Free verse

George Bowering • Has won “many” literary Awards • was the first ever “Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate” (Official appointed Poet of the Canadian government) • Was also novelist, historian and biographer • Also was made an officer of the “Order of Canada”, which is a Canadian service award • These things relate to the fact that most if not all his poems (the ones in our Book) are political and social
