  2. Signs and Symptoms RSV can be mistaken for a bad cold because of the symptoms. • Dry cough • Stuffy or runny nose • Sore throat • Earache • Low-grade fever • Mild headache Sever Cases Mild Cases • High fever • Severe cough • Wheezing • Rapid/Difficulty breathing • Blush color of skin

  3. Is there another name for RSV? • No there is not another name for it. • RSV is abbreviation form of Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

  4. Is it viral or bacterial? RSV is viral.

  5. How do you treat RSV? • A lot of rest and fluids. To reduce fever you can use acetaminophen. • For severe cases you might have to stay at a hospital and get (IV) for fluids and also be put on mechanical ventilation to help with breathing.

  6. What is the incubation period? • Incubation period is 2 to 8 days.

  7. How can it be prevented? • Wash your hands constantly. • Disinfect surfaces that are commonly used such as: • Toys. • Doorknobs and handles. • Have children cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough. Then have them wash their hands. • Avoid touching the person who caring it. • Avoid touching your face. • Stay at home when you are sick.

  8. Is it contagious? • RSV is highly contagious. • You remain contagious up to 8 days.

  9. Is there a vaccine? • There is no vaccine for RSV.

  10. Other interesting facts? • Breakout usually happen in winter. • It can lead to more serious illness such as bronchiolitis. • RSV is dangerous for babies especially.
