  1. ELECTRICAL INTERFACES Martin Frericks, Frans Zwart

  2. Power • Primary power (specification by IKI coming) • single power bus? • nominal, minimum and maximum voltage? • transients, ripple and spikes? • bus impedance? • current limiting? • dc/dc converter frequency range and mode? • Power budget • Power profiles of all SXC units • BOL, EOL • peak load including inrush currents, load variations • power switching modes … 

  3. Power switching modes • Parts of the instrument that can be switched ON/OFF by the S/C …  • Parts of the instrument that can be switched ON/OFF by e.g. TC or automatic power up / power down sequences • Definition of operational / idle / non-operational / survival modes? • Switch-off during radiation belt passage: • CAP & CDP?

  4. Power switching at S/C side • Parts of the instrument that can be switched ON/OFF by S/C: • P1: CDE2 • P2: Calorimeter PSU • P3: CDE1 • P4: TAC • P5: IDC • Pyro’s • interface requirements between pyro power supply (IKI) and: • telescope door (SRON) • cryostat door (ISAS) • three cryostat valve (ISAS)

  5. ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) • No EMC test foreseen on instrument level, only on sub-system level (i.e. • EMC requirements: • from S/C (including other instruments): IKI • from/to detector assembly: ISAS and/or GSFC between cooling and detector: ISAS and GSFC • from/to TAC: SRON • EMC testplan & results available from Suzaku (heritage) • Grounding & shielding concept: • based on Suzaku • where central grounding? • EMC aspects: • susceptibility, emission • radiated (E/H), conducted (DM/CM; power/signal lines)

  6. ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) • ESD requirements (IKI) • ESD test to be performed? On which models?

  7. Radiation - EEE part qualification • Radiation 10 kRad (TBC, based on 5 year lifetime?) Power switching options during radiation belt passage • CAP & CDP? • Component quality level

  8. SpaceWire, I/F to S/C ???

  9. Harness • Requirements: • shielding • grounding • combination of signals and power • connector types and quality • heat conductance: only issue within cryostat, not between units
