Now • WebDAV standard • According to Webopedia, http://isp.webopedia.com/TERM/W/WebDAV.html : Short for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning, an IETFstandard set of platform-independent extensions to HTTP that allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remoteWeb servers.
