  2. Status Excellent water and oxygen, Dude! West East Will use 5 lpm during run 3 lpm 2 lpm

  3. Scintillation used to get Gain • Fit to Gaussian + Exponential. • Gain from: • Use ADC gain from manual (pC/channel) • 2000 e’s/mV from pre-Amp • Checks with 55Fe to ~10%

  4. Gains Normalized for P/T • Using the curve above we can deduce the normalization factor to determine the gain at P/T = 2.560 • This was different from running conditions: • Bill <P/T> = 2.596 • Ted <P/T> = 2.606 • This is within expected range of operation.

  7. Cosmic Studies • We believe that the starting points for operation in PHENIX are now well enough defined that we’re ready for Run-9. Excellent!!!

  8. P/T Corrections: • We will have to track P/T variations carefully. • In the past month, the extremes of P/T would change the HBD gain by a factor of 1.98. • Auto-adjustment scheme under consideration: • Finite set(s) of conditions. • Change voltages between runs. P/T=2.627 P/T=2.525

  9. INSTALLATION IN PHENIX Upgrades For Run9 | PHENIX, BNL HBD HV Control System HBD Meeting :: December 9th, 2008 • December 8th, 2008 – 4PM EST :: HBD HV Control & Monitoring System successfully installed in PHENIX • Due to the HBD Simulation Project, the installation process without big complications! • TS5 has been powered up and connected to the HBD mainframe on the bridge. • The mainframe rack which is shared with the RXNP guys, has been powered up. • ALL 6 Run9-modified 1471Ns, which have been crash tested and prepared for installation since last Thursday continuously day & night, were installed in the 1458HP mainframe. • ALL 40 channels (GEMs & Mesh chn) have been ramped up and measured via Fluke by controlling them one by one through the HV Control System, which was run on a laptop connected to the PHENIX wireless. • The installation channel check procedure automatically ramped & disabled channel by channel after measurement. • The channel check has been completely successful!!! 11. Cube Measurements • Some bogus news. • Apparently the microdot connector inside Ted is damaged. • Despite this trouble, Bob sees peaks both for scintillation and 55Fe from the measurements. • Cube will still make measurement, just not as clean.

  12. Job List • Cabling • Excellent Progress • Done Monday • Apply Voltage: • Use CF4 for real test • Use NIM module (CAEN) • Current-limiting mode. • New HV system still testing. • Few days starting early next week. • Vlad-in-charge. • Finish commissioning of new HV system.
