  1. CONCORDANCE – a way of seeing how individual words work. Method One. Frequently used words. Choose a text. Select a word that is repeated 4 or 5 time in the text. Highlight it and copy the word and phrase below. Last year, I married an American girl called Britney Spears. She used to be a singer and live in L.A, but after a few problems she decided she wanted a change. We moved to Bali and since then our lives have been very different. We don’t have much money because she spent hers on lawyers and drug rehabilitation centers in L.A. Even though we are poor, we have a good time when we go out, especially when she does karaoke. Here it is used as a main transitive verb, showing possession. Here it is a collocation “have a laugh” is a fixed phrase that means “have a good time” Again it is being used as a main transitive verb. Here it is being used as a modal of obligation “have to + infinitive” showing a strong obligation, something we must do. When we use it as a modal, the pronunciation changes from /hav/ (have) into /haff/ in have to
