Letter of Reflection • Standard heading, title, & formatting • Brief summary of your memoir • A reflection on the overall experience of writing your memoir, including what you learned from class discussions, as well as the writing itself • Things on which you might reflect: • The art of concrete descriptions • Scene vs. summary • How to create a narrative arc when telling a story • The use of dialogue • Writing transitions • Crafting strong introductions and conclusions • The use of metaphor/simile • The act of revision • The act of peer review • How writing about the past either did or did not provide new insights on past events

Homework • Complete and send your Letter of Reflection to my Dropbox account before Thursday’s class • Read Guide to Writing, pp. 125-145, with special attention paid to the profiles of Jon Favreau (pp. 130-132) and of Tommie Lindsey (pp. 143-145) • Read: http://www.k-state.edu/ces/students/informationalinterviewingguide.html • Comment on the blog, either on the reading or with any questions you have about the assignment
