  3. Daily Supplies • Spiral Notebook (Journal) • Pen • Pencils • Loose leaf paper • Textbook/Novel • Points will be taken off if work is handed in with fringes—so bring LOOSE LEAF PAPER!

  4. Attendance/Tardy Policy • Student will lose points for unexcused tardies • On the fourth tardy, a detention will be given. • See handbook for consequences after the 4th tardy. • In the event of a truancy, the student will receive a zero for work due or completed that day.

  5. Student Responsibilities • Attend class daily • Be prepared to contribute to class discussions • Successfully complete the course with the highest grade possible for that student • Seek help immediately if having difficulty • Act respectful toward everyone

  6. Classroom Rules • Respect the rights and property of others • Eating/gum-chewing and drinks are not allowed in the classroom (don’t lose points!) • No put downs • Academic Language ALWAYS

  7. Homework Policy • Homework Every night (Monday-Thursday) • Weekends are for long term assignments • Turn in all work on time for full credit • Long term and designated assignments may NEVER be turned in late • Reading assignments are always No Late Work

  8. Absent? • Check my website • Call a friend • Check the Daily Log Notebook the day you return • ALL work must be made up within three days of absence (including the day of return) or no credit will be earned • Prior work is due the day the student returns • Long term assignments must be turned in on time, even if you are absent

  9. Grading Policy • Assignments: in class work, critical thinking journals, study guide answers, etc. • Vocabulary/Spelling: weekly tests • Quizzes/Tests: On notes taken in class, novels, assigned reading, etc.

  10. Grading Policy (cont’d) • Essays/ Reports/Projects: The point value for these will be given ahead of time • Half credit earned for papers with no names • Loss of participation will occur if class rules are broken (chewing gum, disrupting, no book, eating, etc.)
