Doxology Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! Praise Him, all creatures here below! Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts! Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! ***
Come Thou Fount Come Thou fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above; Praise His name--I’m fixed upon it- Name of God’s redeeming love.
Hitherto Thy love has blest me; Thou hast brought me to this place; And I know Thy hand will bring me Safely home by Thy good grace.
Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Bought me with His precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering soul to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above. ***
Hosanna Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest!
Lord, we lift up Your name, With hearts full of praise; Be exalted, oh Lord, my God! Hosanna in the highest!
Glory! Glory! Glory to the King of kings! Glory! Glory! Glory to the King of kings!
Lord, we lift up Your name, With hearts full of praise; Be exalted, oh Lord, my God! Hosanna in the highest!
Lord, we lift up Your name, With hearts full of praise; Be exalted, oh Lord, my God! Hosanna in the highest! ***
Lord, I Lift Your Name On High Lord, I lift Your name on high, Lord, I love to sing Your praises; I’m so glad Your in my life, I’m so glad You came to save us.
You came from heaven to earth To show the way, From the earth to the cross My debt to pay,
From the cross to the grave, From the grave to the sky; Lord, I lift Your name on high! ***
Rom 12-14 Spirit filled living • All sacrifices were to be of the highestquality • An acceptable sacrifice was holy before God • Paul calls us to make achoiceabout the way that we live for God • A "living sacrifice" demands holy and acceptable living by our whole person • 1Peter 1:14-15
Rom 12-14 Spirit filled living • Any of God's people today (or those claiming to be God's people), have forgotten or neglected to bring the "first class" offering to the altar • This type of sacrifice is not just one time decision but a continuous long term commitment • Much the same as being “filled with the Spirit”
Why is it reasonable? • Justification • Adoption in Jesus and identification with Christ • Set under grace not law • The gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit • Help in all affliction • The certainty of coming glory • The confidence of no separation from the love of God • Total confidence in God’s continued faithfulness
And do not be conformed to this world • to be fashioned like something or someone else, squeezed into a mold • "Do not take this age as your fashion plate“ • The “world system” - the popular culture and manner of thinking that is in rebellion against God - will try to conform us to its ungodly pattern
be transformed by the renewing of your mind • The battle ground between conforming to the world and being spiritually transformed is within the mind of the believer. • Christians must think differently • And we can because of our new nature
Paul has explained how to live out the will of God: • Keep in mind the rich mercy of God to you - past, present, and future (by the mercies of God) • As an act of intelligent worship, decide to yield your entire self to Him (present your bodies a living sacrifice) • Resist conformity to the thoughts and actions of this world (do not be conformed) • By focus on God's Word and fellowship with Him, be transformed by the renewing of your mind
Two last thoughts • Paul’s own testimony of desire: “It is my eager expectation and hope that . . . Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death” (Philippians 1:20). • His exhortation to us 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
