What we have been doing In room 10 we have been doing some research to explore ideas for what a child friendly exploration area looks like. We have been working in think groups to brainstorm ideas for what could be in ROPS Ville.
A hut painted in blackboard paint to write on with chalk A tepee made from stakes and vines Tunnels A gumboot garden along a wall/fence Stairs Recycled materials hanging from trees to make music Musical materials that we can make sounds with A hut made of pallets A bridge ROPS Ville ? Blackboard to write on Coloured pipes to put marbles or balls down Archways to go under A colourful hopscotch A boat / car made from old chairs Chairs made of grass Different sized posts in the ground to walk across
These are some of the ideas we found while researching and really like.
What is your vision for the area Behind the sandpit there is a big area which is usually out of bounds. It is such a shame because it is lovely and sunny down there. It looks like it could be a nice place to play I would really like some lovely things down there for you children to play in.
What would you like to see there? • Pretend houses to play in – long tall ones, short flat ones. • Funky seats to sit and stand on • Archways to walk and crawl through
What would you like it to be called? I haven’t got a name for it but I want it to be a an imaginary place where people can go and play and they can just pretend to be whatever they want to be.
