Place-based Learning • Immerses students in local heritage, cultures, landscapes, opportunities and experiences; • Uses these as a foundation for the study of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and other subjects across the curriculum; and • Emphasizes learning through participation in service projects for the local school and/or community. • http://www.promiseofplace.org/

Standard: Current and emerging technologies have enabled humans to develop and use models to understand and communicate how natural and designed systems work and interact.
Curriculum- Standards • Grade 8 • Earth and Space Science Standard: Landforms are the result of the combination of constructive and destructive processes. Standard: Water, which covers the majority of the Earth’s surface, circulates through the crust, oceans and atmosphere in what is known as the water cycle.
