Who ? • The Black death is a name that was given to a disease that was spread by flees on rats. • The name symbolizes the color that the boils were. These would erupt and death was quick. • The color black is the sign of death. • It is also known as the Bubonic Plague. • It killed 60% of Europe's population. • By 1350 the population of Europe was reduced from 450 million to 350 million people.
When ? • Europe in 1348 – 1350 • There was a second smaller outbreak in 1360.
Why ? • The Black Death pandemic occurred because of over population . • The dirtiness of the streets. • People did not wash. • This all contributed to the quick spread of the disesease.
Where ? • The Black Death is thought to have originated in China. • Then it spread along the Silk Road reaching the Crimea by 1346. • Then the infected Rats climbed on board ships that were exporting goods to Europe and then from the ports spread quickly through Europe.
What ? • The Black death is a disease that was spread by rats in Europe.
How ? • The flees that carried the plague would jump on to a host namely a rat. • Drink the blood of the infected Rat. • Jump on to a human and then bite him passing the plague into his blood stream. • Humans would cough and their boils would explode and this would pass the Black Death from human to human.
