  5. Strategy • Strike the Union Center on Cemetery Ridge • Lead divisions over three quarters of a mile in the late afternoon. • Carry out the attack surprising the union forces. • The attack on Cemetary Ridge became known as ‘Picket’s Charge.”

  6. Significance • The confederates wanted to end the war through Picket’s charge. • Confederate Forces were defeated without a defensive plan. • Rights were given to blacks, and the war caused a time of peace, stopping other wars.
