  5. Strategy • Strike the Union Center on Cemetery Ridge • Lead divisions over three quarters of a mile in the late afternoon. • Carry out the attack surprising the union forces.

  6. Objective • Planned to catch Union forces off guard. • The confederate forces were flanked, losing two thirds of their men.
