  3. 1815: founded as „k. k. polytechnisches Institut“ • (being the first University of Technology in todays German-speaking geographical area) • 1865: first reform • (restructuring, implementation of faculties, concentration on technical disciplines) • 1872: renamed to „k.k. Technische Hochschule“ (TH) • (new organisational statute, lasts until 1945) • 1902: first doctorates awarded • (promotion right awarded in 1901) • 1919:admission for women • 1975: renamed to „Technische Universität“ (TU) • 1999: implementation of University Act ´93 • 2004: autonomy through University Act ´02 History

  6. According to the Bologna Agreement all offered studies (except teacher training programmes) have been offered as bachelor and master programmes since October 1st, 2006. Besides 19 bachelor programmes and 41 master programmes, 5 teacher training programmes are offered: Mathematics (E406) Descriptive Geometry (E407) Physics (E412) Chemistry (E423) Informatics und Informatics Management (E884) Teacher training programmes last 9 semesters and finish with the degree „Mag. rer. nat.“ Following doctorate degrees are offered: Technical Sciences („Dr. techn.“) Natural Sciences („Dr. rer. nat.“) Social Science and Economics („Dr. rer. soc. oec.“) Studies
