Picture file types: Screen Small files – Enough detail to display • jpg • Most used for photos • Compressed • Adjustable quality • Often loses information edited and resaved • gif • Most used for drawings, logos • Limited color range (256) • png • Newer – better but not yet generally used
Things to do to photos • Save a copy • Never work on the original(just in case….)

Inserting into Office • For all Microsoft Office programs • From the menu bar, click Insert Picture From File • Click picture to pop up the picture toolbar for additional processing
Sample files • Open Internet Explorer • Go towww.ccsf.edu/vfascio • Scroll down and click Preparing Images for the Web or for PowerPoint • Right-click the name of a picture and choose Save target as… • Save to Desktop • Open PhotoShop and open pic
