CHALLENGES • Integration of USA & Canada CMFs • 50% Foreign Born CMFs • Secularization of USA/CANADA • Immigration Policy and Ministry
Integration of USA & Canada CMFs It will take some time to unify the future plans for ministries in the USA and Canada. For example, Canada’s rich history in French speaking Quebec is an important consideration as we make coordinated plans for evangelization for both countries
50% Foreign Born CMFs About half of the Province was born outside of the USA or Canada. We will have to address various inculturation issues if these brothers are to serve effectively in our ministries
Secularization of USA/CANADA Materialism and consumerism as well as other secular values challenges the way we do our mission in these developed countries. The American born sons and daughters of immigrants can easily become secularized into these cultures and the practice of the faith is very different from that of their parents. We need to continue to reflect on what is most timely, urgent and effective in our ministries
Immigration Policy and Ministry Immigration laws in the USA are inadequate and need to be changed. There has been much political debate as to what to do; the legislative bodies are at a stand still. Most of our ministries are with immigrants; we will continue to accompany and advocate for the good of our immigrant families.
