Pre-Award Process The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is the University unit responsible for the review of all grant and contract proposals. Any award resulting from a proposal is made to the institution, which is the grantee or the contractor.
Pre-Award Compliance • Compliance letters. Humans, Animals, rDNA, Biosafety, Radiation Safety, etc. to ensure the safety and well being of subjects and personnel involved in the research • Training and Certification • Other Support • Time and Effort • Cost Share
Post Award NIH Approval • Change in Scope of work • Pre-award costs (more than 90 days prior to the effective date of a new or competing continuation award) • Change in key personnel • Change in grantee organization • Change in grantee organizational status • Closely related work • Need for additional funding
Post Award NIH Approval • Addition of a foreign component under a grant to a domestic organization • Changes to award terms and conditions or undertaking any activities disapproved or restricted as a term of award • Extension of final budget period of a project period • Transferring performance of substantive programmatic work to a third party (by consortium agreement, contract, or other means)
