A Young Sista’s School Survival Guide SASSIFIED
MIT can be tough with all the … Parties BOYS P-Sets GIRs Internships Fun classes Sports MAJORS Future Financial aid UROP Career Extra curricular
Never fear! We’ve all been there! And this is how WE did it…
First and foremost: CLASSES !!! We all know about these terrible terrible things called GIRS. We have to do them for some strange reason. Here’s what you’re supposed to take: • 18.01 • 18.02 • 8.01 • 8.02 • 3.091 OR 5.111 OR 5.112 • 7.012 OR 7.013 OR 7.014 • 2CI-H ‘s • Hass H, A and SS
Which leads us to… Choosing a major Once you’ve hacked away at your GIRs you’ll be expected to declare a major the end of your Freshman Spring semester. It can be overwhelming but it’s ok. Take your time and make sure you’re setting yourself up to have options now AND in the future. Have an interest? Take classes and explore! Your Freshman spring is the perfect time for intro courses that will give you a taste of what that major would be like! (e.g 9.00, 6.00, 6.01, 2.00b etc)
If you still need help with anything…. When in class No one knows it all so you will some times need outside help. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Need a study buddy? Talk to people in your class! Need a tutor? Talk to your department, or better yet, your professor! Who knows the material more than they do? They can be surprisingly helpful. Remember, take advantage of opportunities here! We do attend the number one university in the world and every thing it has to offer is yours!
