Creating an installation:“Super Creeps”2013 Alexandra Randall Concept Design Process The Art Tools
“Poison-Antidote” was created as a senior thesis body of work when finishing my degree in Studio Art at Salem College. While my concentration was in Printmaking, I began a new medium that year –paper cutting. The main piece was an installation titled, “Super Creeps.” The installation covered three gallery walls and the silhouette of the largest image, a giant scorpion, wrapped onto the floor and 12 ft. high ceiling. The dimensions of the scorpion were 13’ x 20’, and the work as a whole was 60’ in length. “Super Creeps” was on exhibit for one month only in Mary Davis Holt Gallery-Elberson Fine Arts Center, Winston-Salem, NC(May 2013). Finale The unique quality of this art work is that it is temporary. In the removal from walls, it is all destroyed. For this particular piece, I was prepared to let it go, as the destruction of the poisonous entity was reduced to its ultimate harmlessness. The installation can be revisited, however, through the photos taken. HOME
